Antique Majolica Plate by Mouzin-Lecat, Wasmuel, Belgium (circa 1880–1900)
This exquisite antique majolica plate was crafted by the renowned Mouzin-Lecat factory in Wasmuel, Belgium, near the northern French border. Founded in 1878 by directors Mouzin and Lecat, the factory became known for its vibrant and high-quality majolica wares.
Dating from around 1880 to 1900, this stunning plate features a beautifully detailed scene of a bird of paradise perched in a cherry tree, feasting on ripe red cherries. The design is set against a richly patterned blue background, framed by a scalloped and ornately molded rim.
With its deep, glossy glaze and vivid coloration, this plate exemplifies the artistry and craftsmanship of 19th-century Belgian majolica. A striking decorative piece, it reflects both natural beauty and exceptional ceramic technique.
