A rare antique find in impeccable condition by Arthur BOUVIER (1837-1921)
Belgian school of the last quarter of the 19th century.
Bouvier, a self-taught artist, began as a landscape painter. He exhibited in Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Chicago, and elsewhere. He is considered one of the finest marine painters of his time, notably for his ability to capture the movement of waves and the depth of the atmosphere. His works are held in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels, the museums of Liège, the Chamber of Representatives, and the Ministry of Education.
A beautiful and finely executed vintage landscape oil painting featuring soft dusty pink hues that suggest the quiet light of dawn or sunset. The scene is rendered with a more realistic approach, capturing subtle shifts of light across the landscape and creating a peaceful, atmospheric composition.
The artist uses delicate tonal transitions and natural earth tones balanced with gentle pinks to evoke the stillness of early morning or the warmth of the day’s final light. The quality of the brushwork and depth of color give the painting a timeless, collected character.
Presented in its original vintage frame, which complements the artwork beautifully and enhances its presence on the wall. The frame’s patina adds to the authenticity and charm of the piece. It’s signed on the back.
Hand-selected in Paris, this is a one-of-a-kind work sourced during our European buying trip and chosen for its quality, palette, and classic landscape subject.
